Benefits of Singing for Health p4

Speech and language

Many people, be it old or young, have speech imperfections that they look for support with. Well singing can help with that to creating awareness of mouth and tongue positioning. Practicing and strengthening muscles in the mouth and throat while learning to create sounds using a combination of breath and resonances.

Through song and exploration of music you can help improve understanding of tone, pace, diction, articulation, projection and so much more. They all play a part in improving people's speech and language skills before we even look into the lyrics and stories that the songs tell, helping improve comprehension and vocabulary.

These skills will only get stronger with continued practice.

Types of singing

Singing comes in many styles from solos and duets, to groups and choirs. They can also explore a vast range of genres from pop, musical theater, classical, rock. The list goes on.

Whatever the preferences in style and genre we already know the benefits it can have on our physical and mental health.

But we haven’t discussed the heat and now how does it affect you at the moment? Well for some the thought of going to a singing lesson or entering a choir room can scare them enough to run a marathon but maybe they don’t know this secret . That singing can instantly improve your self confidence, making you hold yourself a little taller. The oxytocin released when singing can make you feel connected meaning that you are able to build stronger bonds and make friends easier. Making it 10 times easier to come back for more as well as explains why group singing and choirs work so well.
